Om koncerten

Johan Hedin (nyckelharpa) & Ida Meidell Blylod (barokviolin) - Sverige

For English – see below:

English:

Johan Hedin and Ida Meidell Blylod first met during European Broadcasting Union’s live project Aurora Bachealis arranged by Stockholm Early Music Festival in 2015. Their debut as a duo at the 2019 Korrö Festival was acclaimed for its distinctive sound and personal interpretation of Swedish traditional music, and its connections to baroque music.

Ida and Johan thrive off each other’s musical backgrounds, both being part of a living tradition where a musician is also an arranger and composer. The duo moves freely through the wavering forms of fiddle tradition, while the combination of nyckelharpa and baroque violin makes for a distinctive sound quality with a timber which is both full-bodied and resonant.

Ida Meidell Blylod is a folk musician and baroque violinist from northern Sweden, driven by a life-long passion for the violin’s multifaceted nature. A passionate performer, Ida brings depth and sensitivity to each unique performance. She has been touring the European folk and baroque scenes for many years, and is also a sought-after fiddle teacher at folk music courses around the world.

Johan Hedin is a world-touring nyckelharpa player from Småland in southern Sweden, who by his way of playing has been crucial to the development of the nyckelharpa scene of today. His musical curiosity is a guiding star that keeps leading him to seek new and exciting collaborations. Johan’s developing of the nyckelharpa has opened up for new possibilities with the instrument, and provide space for unique new music to arise.
