Nordindisk klassisk koncert / North Indian classical concert
Presentation in English below
Papaya Musik has I årenes løb præsenteret mange fine indiske solister.
English text:
North-Indian – or Hindustani – classical music belongs to the family of modal musical traditions also found in e.g. Middle Eastern and Central Asian music. A performance usually follows quite specific characteristics. The performance will be framed by a raga – defining scale, melodic figures and perhaps the mood for an improvisation. The latter will start by an extended solo for the melodic instrument (e.g. the sarangi) introducing the characteristics of the chosen raga. Following the development of this solo growing in melodic range and intensity the percussion (e.g. the table) will join the sarangi and an improvised duo will follow.
Over the years Papaya Musik have hosted a great number of Hindustani artists. It is, however, the first time we can host a concert for the sarangi. Our two artists will also be paying their first visit to Aalborg.
Dilshad Khan is today considered a leading figure and among the top most Sarangi players of India.
