Om koncerten
A body with its skin torn off. A raw approach to songwriting, moving through beloved paths of acoustic timbres, drones, and analogue sound processing. Fragile and emotional, it is shaped by a deeply personal sense of where composition begins and ends, filled with magical realism and folky, ethereal modes.“I wanted to open up to my sensuality and be bold in that sense, coming closer to who I truly am in sound. This time, I allowed my voice to reveal hidden melodies within my body, and I surrendered to it. The lyrics emerged through fantasy, absurdity, and relationships, mostly love for other beings and the world, taking on different forms and shapes throughout the album-making process. At times devastatingly crushing, but also purifying. Each piece holds its own world and journey, yet they weave together coherently with the help of an incredible ensemble of strings, brass, and accordion, guitar, prepared piano. I am deeply thankful to every soul who became part of it.”Gintė Preisaitė is a Lithuanian artist based in Copenhagen, where she composes and improvises with piano and electronics. Through a variety of timbres, textures, collaged melodies, and percussive figures, she finds the thin spaces of transcendence and transformation between acoustic instrumentation and the electronic processing of contemporary compositions. She moves between ambient, drone, and experimental songwriting, exploring themes of escapism and memory through sound. Collisions pile up as ideas meet between her classical and improvisational background, and playful, sample-based material, focusing on instrumental timbres, extended techniques, and earthy vocals. As an improvising pianist and composer, she has performed and collaborated with artists such as Toshimaru Nakamura, Sachiko M,and Kenny Wollesen, and has opened for artists like DrewMcDowall and Rafael Toral. During her time at RMC, she also composed music for larger ensembles, including the octet Octesonanse and the quintet Stochastic Meditation.Support: Emil PalmeEmil Palme is an experimental composer and guitarist from Copenhagen, whose practice is rooted in Scandinavian experimental music and folklore. His second solo work, 'Death by angel' is a doomsday requiem that illuminates the path from this life to the afterlife. Death by angel is inspired by ancient mythology – the idea of the angel of death guiding our souls through the unknown. The release consists of ten movements, each symbolizing nature's indisputable paths that all living beings are bound and destined to walk. Death by angel represents the dissonance and harmony that is inherent in our view of beauty and mystery. By stroking and scratching the strings of his instrument with homemade stone bows, the Danish artist conjures fascinating ceremonial patterns that unfold in the misty no-man's land between composition and improvisation. There is a kind of primal quality to the music thatseems to be the sum of all its parts. A melancholic, magnificent and otherworldly essence that calls for forgotten worlds, created through a modern, neoclassical approach. Emil Palme is an unconventional and extremely creative artist who, in addition to his solo project, is active in, among others, Portal Pets, which is performing at this year's Roskilde Festival, and in the two bands Baujillaud and Yngel.
