Lorelle Meets the Obsolete:

Originally from Guadalajara and now based in Ensenada, Baja California, Lorelle Meets The Obsolete formed in 2011 around the core duo of Lorena Quintanilla and Alberto González. They quickly caught the attention of the psych scene with their first two albums, On Welfare and Corruptible Faces.

With lyrics that navigate the turmoil of modern life — cultural colonialism, political tension, sleepless nights, and emotional unrest — Lorelle Meets The Obsolete balance venture with confrontation. Their live shows are intense, incendiary experiences, driven by catharsis, distortion, and defiance.

Holly Horsepower navigates the tension between the sweet, the sharp, the raw and the restless. It’s shoegaze, punk and nostalgic rock, with noise as an accessory. The lyrics are poetic and cheeky, serious and playful.

Live, Holly Horsepower is like stepping into a secret universe where everyone is someone else, and where you’re allowed to play, be dramatic, ugly and sensitive all at the same time. The band is cute, but also chaotic, DIY and theatrical – and quite deliberately a bit kitsch.
